Job Description


The Staff Accountant will be responsible for organization-wide accounting activities, including accounts receivable and payable, books & records, posting GL entries, assisting with the preparation of financial statements and budgets, reconciliations including bank accounts and loan accounts (both receivable and payable). This is a perfect opportunity for someone with a few years of accounting experience to join a very well established and fast-growing company headquartered here in Coral Gables. The Staff Accountant will report to the Corporate Controller and have the following responsibilities:

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and examine accounting records
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Post journal entries
  • Assist with the accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes
  • Oversee charging expenses off to correct entities
  • Create, review, and correct journal entries
  • Support invoice creation & collections, post deposits
  • Assist in the Preparation monthly statements, budgets, and other managerial accounting items
  • Retail-type duties such as inventory, cash and credit card reconciliation
  • Perform ad hoc functions and reports as necessary


Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to understand variances and follow written or verbal instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the application of internal controls.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive financial information.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5-7 years relevant accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, and GL accounting software
  • Proficiency in creating and understanding complex income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work as independently or as part of a team
